GENERAL PURPOSE:
Under general supervision, performs unskilled general labor and maintenance work for City parks, streets, facilities and infrastructure in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Operates a variety of specialized equipment and performs general manual labor tasks in order to maintain City storm drains, parks, streets, infrastructure and City facilities as assigned; duties will vary according to job assignment and individual skills; responds to emergencies as needed.
Performs general labor, maintenance and repair tasks within scope of authority, and in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; reports safety hazards, equipment problems and emergency situations.
Operates and maintains a variety of tools and specialized equipment.
Assists in the repair and maintenance of parks and roadways; maintains landscaping and grounds; clears trash, brush, weeds and debris from roadways, structures, grounds and facilities.
Cleans and maintains City facilities; makes minor facility repairs; assists with the construction of new facilities and installation of equipment.
Cleans and stores hazardous materials according to City policy and procedures.
Hours:
Monday through Thursday, 6:
00 am to 4:
30 pm; some overtime may be required.
Other duties as assigned.
Regular and timely attendance is required.
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Education and
Experience:
One year of general work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
Must possess a valid Texas Driver License with a good driving record.
Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.
Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.
Required Knowledge of:
City policies and procedures.
City safety rules and regulations, occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Required Skill in:
Safe and efficient operation and maintenance of tools and equipment.
Closely following verbal and written instructions and procedures.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
Work is performed outdoors.
Requires constant physical efforts, and ability to lift and carry up to 113 pounds.
